Postpartum Support

It’s so easy (and natural) to become overwhelmed following a new birth.  If this is your first baby, you might be feeling a bit stunned. Whether your birth went just as you planned and you’re now coming down from that amazing high, or things didn’t go exactly as you hoped and you’re still trying to process your birth experience and care for your precious newborn at the same time.  If you have other children, maybe you’re wondering how you’re ever going to be able to navigate caring for your older kids while also feeding your baby around the clock.  Or, maybe this whole parenthood thing just isn’t what you expected; you miss your old life and are struggling to connect and bond with the baby you’ve waited so long to meet.

Despite the magnitude of what you’ve just experienced, you’re often expected to quickly bounce back and return to life as it was before baby.  So many other cultures emphasize celebrating and honoring new parents by caring for them, supporting them, and placing value on the transition from pregnancy through the postpartum period.  Unfortunately, our modern society falls far short of allowing the full healing, bonding, and growth that can be experienced in the first several weeks postpartum.  As a postpartum doula, I help bridge that gap and empower you to truly bond with your baby, nurture yourself, and make sure your whole family thrives, rather than just survives, the next few months.
